Passenger guide

Everything you need to know to use the Sun International staff bus register. Register once, then scan the code inside your bus each time you travel.

Love Every Moment

1. Register once

Open the register page on your phone, or scan the small “New? Register here first” code on the sheet inside the bus.

Give your first name, surname, department and cell number, and an email address you can open on your phone. Sun International staff should use their Sun International address; everyone else may use any working address.

Leave the staff number blank if you do not work for Sun International, and choose “Other / non-Sun employer” as your department instead.

You only ever do this once. If your details change later, register again with the same email address and we will update them.

2. Scan the QR code in the bus

There is a printed sheet inside every bus with a large QR code on it. Open your phone camera and hold it over the code.

Tap the link that appears. The page shows the bus registration and the route, so you can see straight away that you are on the right bus.

The code belongs to the bus, not to a route or a time, so the same code works every day.

3. Give your email address

On a phone we do not recognise, type the email address you registered with and tap Check in. You are checked in straight away — there is nothing else to do.

If you would like one tap next time, the confirmation page offers to remember your phone: we email you a six-digit code, you enter it once, and the phone is then recognised for 90 days.

That offer is optional. You can ignore it and simply type your address each time.

4. Check in

Press the check-in button. You will see a green confirmation with your name, the bus and the time.

Scanning twice does no harm — we simply show you the time of your original check-in. You are never counted twice.

Check in while you are on the bus. If your signal is poor, try again once you have bars; if it still will not go through, tell the driver so the transport office can add you.

5. Find your trip

We work out your trip from the time you scan, matching it to the timetable for that bus.

We look for a departure from an hour before to 45 minutes after the scheduled time.

If nothing matches — an extra bus, or a late departure — the page lists today's trips on that route and you simply tap the one you are on.

If something goes wrong

The page says the bus code is not recognised

The sheet may have been replaced or damaged. Tell the transport office which bus you are on and they will reprint it.

It says my address is not on the register

You may have typed it differently, or not registered yet. Check the spelling, then register on the register page.

It says there are no departures for this bus

The timetable for that bus has not been loaded yet. Let the transport office know the times you travel.

I have a new phone

Scan as usual and type your email address to check in. If you would like one tap next time, accept the offer to remember the phone and confirm your address with the code we email you.

My surname, department or number has changed

Register again with the same email address. We send a code to that address to confirm it is you, then update your details.

What we keep, and why

We keep your name, staff number, department, cell number, email address and a record of the trips you check in to. It is used only to run and report on the staff bus service, and only staff transport administrators can see it.
